The village of Toru-Aygyr is located in the Issyk-Kul region and is associated with many fascinating legends passed down from generation to generation by the locals.

One of the most well-known legends tells the story of a boy named Bakyt, who grew up without parents, left with only a plot of land in his life. Upon learning of his fate, a wealthy man from a neighboring village took Bakyt in as a shepherd and gave the boy's land to his son. When Bakyt turned 17, the rich man gifted him a foal, which soon transformed into a magnificent racehorse. This horse became a winner at races, attracting the owner's attention. He made Bakyt take care of his horses, and soon it was Bakyt's horse that became the most successful in competitions. Bakyt proudly named him "My Toru-Aygyr." Many locals asked him to sell the horse, but he refused. One day, bandits attacked Bakyt and took his horse, but the horse escaped and returned to its owner. The bandits chased after it, and when they reached the lake, the horse swam across it. Bakyt, seeing his beloved companion, rushed to meet him, but unfortunately, the horse died in his arms. Over time, a large village emerged at that place, which was named Toru-Aygyr.
