In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, law enforcement agencies detained a man suspected of extorting an amount of 50,000 US dollars. A woman named Z.S. filed an official complaint with the Internal Affairs Department of the Pervomaisky District, requesting action against citizen A.I.
According to preliminary information, A.I. learned about the detention of the complainant's husband by the State Committee for National Security on March 2, 2026, and began to threaten her with filing a complaint against her spouse, blackmailing her by claiming that his actions could negatively affect her husband's situation.
The investigation established that in order to obtain a large financial benefit, A.I. demanded 50,000 US dollars from the woman, promising to refrain from filing a complaint and other actions that could worsen her husband's position.
The investigative service of the Internal Affairs Department of the Pervomaisky District initiated a criminal case under Article 208 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic (extortion). As a result of operational-search activities, A.I., born in 1971, was caught red-handed receiving 30,000 US dollars from the victim.
The detainee has been placed in the temporary detention facility of the Main Internal Affairs Department of Bishkek.
