Bekzat Tilek uulu, a 30-year-old resident of the village of Aral in the Talas region, specializes in making unique wooden dishes.

“My passion for wood began in childhood when I observed my father and grandfather, who were masters of their craft. I also draw inspiration from the internet, where I find new ideas. I buy and process the wood myself,” he shared.

The prices for Bekzat's products range from 300 to 6000 soms.

“The most expensive item I make is a dish for a goat grill, which costs 6000 soms,” he added.

Despite the fact that his work is considered small-scale, Bekzat enjoys it immensely.

“Some clients order dishes with ornaments for the bride’s dowry. One memorable case was when a couple purchased dishes for their daughter, who was getting married in Germany. Such items are highly valued in that country,” he said.

According to Bekzat, pine is the best wood for making dishes, as it does not crack, and no chemicals are used in the manufacturing process.

“My younger brother also works with wood. He mainly makes beds and chairs for cafes,” he noted.
