- In Kyrgyzstan, approximately 2300 veterinarians are needed, but only 1200 specialists are actually working. This information was announced on the air by Abai Kazakov, who holds the position of head of the Department of Anti-Epizootic Control of the Veterinary Service for Livestock Development, Pastures, and Feed under the Ministry of Agriculture.

He noted that after the administrative-territorial reform, the number of rural administrations was reduced from 400 to 235.

Out of these 235 administrations, only 192 are currently staffed with veterinary specialists, while the rest remain without professionals.

Kazakov added that certain functions, including vaccination, have been transferred to private veterinarians.

Currently, private veterinarians do not receive funding from state or local budgets. Their income is derived from payments for services provided to the population.
