Iran has issued a five-point ultimatum to the USA

Against the backdrop of increasing influence of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Iran has radically changed its positions in negotiations with the USA. According to The Wall Street Journal, Tehran has presented a series of conditions that Western officials consider unlikely to be met.

One of Iran's main demands is the complete withdrawal of American troops and the closure of all US military bases in the Persian Gulf region. Furthermore, Iran insists on establishing a new shipping order in the Strait of Hormuz, wanting the right to charge fees from passing vessels, similar to what is done in the Suez Canal.

Also included in Iran's list of demands are multi-billion dollar compensations for damages caused and legal guarantees against the resumption of military actions. Additionally, Tehran demands an end to Israeli attacks on "Hezbollah" in Lebanon. The Iranian side refuses to discuss limitations on its missile program and demands the immediate lifting of international sanctions.

American officials, in interviews with The Wall Street Journal, noted that such demands make the possibility of reaching any agreements nearly impossible. The situation is complicated by the fact that US proposals differ significantly from Iranian expectations. Washington offers a 15-point plan that includes the complete destruction of Iran's nuclear program, cessation of funding for proxy groups, and strict limitations on the missile capabilities of the Islamic Republic.

Experts point out that the current position of the IRGC in the Iranian government blocks any compromise solutions that were discussed before the onset of active conflicts.
