
Melis Turgunbaev, who previously held the position of chairman of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, was arrested on March 25 after giving testimony to the Investigative Service. According to information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, his detention occurred following the interrogation.
Initially, Turgunbaev was summoned to provide witness testimony as part of an investigation concerning the activities of OJSC "Kyrgyzneftegaz." However, later, upon completion of investigative activities, his status changed to that of a suspect. It is believed that the investigation pertains to his actions during his tenure in the management of this oil company.
