A Center for Traditional Crafts Opened in the Issyk-Kul Region

In the village of Ornok, located in the Issyk-Kul district, a ceremony was held to open a new Center for Traditional Crafts, based at the Center for Nomadic Civilization named after Kurmandjan Datka.

According to information from the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy, this initiative was implemented as part of cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Republic of Korea with the support of ICHCAP, which operates under the auspices of UNESCO. The goal of the project is to develop traditional crafts, promote cultural tourism, and preserve intangible cultural heritage.

The center represents a modern space that will be used for workshops, exhibitions, and educational programs. As part of the project implementation, the museum exhibition was updated, infrastructure improved, and the latest equipment provided.

During the opening, an exhibition dedicated to the famous craftswoman Dinara Chochunbaeva was also held, and workshops and cultural events were organized.

This initiative will be an important contribution to the development of cultural tourism and the craft sector in Kyrgyzstan.
