
In 2025, Kyrgyzstan reported a decrease in infant mortality, as announced by Health Minister Kanbek Dosmambetov at a meeting of his department's board.
According to the minister, the infant mortality rate was 13.5 per 1,000 live births, which represents a 4.2% decrease compared to the previous year.
Dosmambetov also noted that the structure of causes of mortality among infants has not changed. The largest share consists of perinatal conditions, accounting for 65.7% of all cases, which corresponds to 1,224 children. Congenital anomalies hold the second position with 15.5% (289 cases), while respiratory diseases rank third, making up 8.2% (152 children).
At the same time, the minister emphasized that in 2025 there was an increase in infant mortality due to infectious and parasitic diseases by 28.1%.
