As of today, the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan has identified five folk healers operating with violations. However, their capabilities are limited to administrative measures only. This was reported on the air of the program "Elden Sobol" by Aman Osmonov, head of the licensing department of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Osmonov explained that the responsibility for illegal medical practices is divided into criminal and administrative. In cases where a citizen's health has been harmed, the matter is referred to law enforcement agencies. The Minister of Health can impose a fine for the absence of a license.
“Previously, until 2024, the fine for such violations was 7,500 soms, but we increased it tenfold — to 100,000 soms. Nevertheless, even this amount does not deter healers. We close the establishment, and it reopens the next day. Consequently, a fine of 100,000 soms proves insufficient. We are considering the possibility of raising fines even higher,” he noted.Osmonov also mentioned that recent inspections revealed facts of trading in aconite and other poisonous plants. At the same time, sellers cannot provide adequate explanations regarding the safety of their products. There is a regulation of the Customs Union that prohibits the use of more than 350 types of plants and other goods as food for humans. However, healers continue to ignore these rules.
