Next week, severe frosts are forecasted in Mongolia.

Starting from Saturday evening, heavy snowfall will begin in the western and central regions of the country, and temperatures in some areas may drop to minus 39-44 degrees Celsius.

Additionally, from Saturday to Sunday, strong winds and snowfalls are expected in the Altai Mountains in the west and in the southern provinces of the Gobi Desert, such as Ömnögovi, Dundgovi, and Dornogovi. Wind speeds in these areas may reach 18–20 meters per second.

Due to the worsening weather conditions, the meteorological agency has urged residents of Ulaanbaatar and 21 aimags, including nomads, to be particularly vigilant and take necessary precautions due to the likelihood of natural disasters. The winter period in Mongolia is characterized by severe cold, with temperatures ranging from minus 25 to plus 45 degrees Celsius.

Mongolia has a sharply continental climate that is virtually unaffected by the ocean, making it one of the coldest countries on the planet. In January, temperatures can drop to -30°C, and in some regions even to -40°C and below, sometimes reaching below -50°C.
