The schedule of winter competitions that will take place as part of the Mongolian National Sports Festival includes disciplines such as "ice shooting with knuckles" ("Мөсний шагай") and ice contests. They are scheduled from January 22 to 25 at the rink in Khandgait and at the entertainment complex "Uukhain Duu" in Tsonjin Boldog.
At the previous festival, which took place in 2022, 426 athletes from 21 aimags and nine districts participated, among whom 126 participants engaged in ice archery. This year, about 600 athletes from the same 21 aimags and nine districts have already registered.
The Mongolian National Sports Festival, held every four years, was founded in 1998 by Bayanmunkh Khorloo, who is a former head of the National Center for Physical Education and Sports, a Labor Hero, and a famous wrestling champion. This year, the festival will be held for the eighth time.
This festival represents an important initiative for passing on the traditions and etiquette of national sports to future generations, as well as playing a key role in the scientific development of traditional sports and in shaping state policy in this area.
