Amazon plans a new round of employee layoffs

According to information provided by Reuters, Amazon, one of the leading global online retailers, may announce a new round of layoffs in the coming days, which was first reported in October.

According to sources familiar with the situation, "Amazon intends to carry out the second phase of layoffs next week as part of a broader goal to reduce about 30,000 of its corporate employees."

Earlier, in October, it was reported that the company planned to conduct its largest layoffs in the last three years, affecting up to 30,000 employees. The day after this announcement, the company confirmed that it planned to reduce its corporate workforce by 14,000 to improve operational efficiency.

According to anonymous sources, the total number of layoffs in the current round is expected to be comparable to the previous year and could start as early as Tuesday.

Amazon is one of the largest online retailers in the world and operates not only in the U.S. but also in Canada, China, Brazil, Japan, and European countries. The online store Amazon.com started its operations in July 1995.
