According to information provided by Reuters and reported by the Kazinform agency, Amazon is preparing for a significant reduction in its corporate workforce, affecting about 10% of employees. This decision is a result of the need to optimize costs following a period of rapid employee growth during the pandemic.
According to the latest data, Amazon's current corporate workforce numbers approximately 350,000 people. As a result of the upcoming layoffs, which will be the largest since the end of the wave of cuts in late 2022, the company plans to eliminate 30,000 jobs. It is worth noting that the last time Amazon laid off about 27,000 employees.
Notifications about the upcoming layoffs are expected to begin reaching employees within the next 24 hours. The layoffs will affect various departments, including human resources, operational services, as well as divisions dealing with devices and services, including Amazon Web Services (AWS).
