In connection with the introduction of international sanctions against "Lukoil," the company announced its intention to sell its foreign assets. This statement was made by the company's press service, which clarified that this decision was a consequence of the restrictive measures imposed by several states.

According to the press release, "Lukoil" plans to sell its assets in accordance with the OFAC license — the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, which is responsible for enforcing sanctions.

The company also intends to apply for an extension of the license if necessary, to ensure the uninterrupted operation of its international assets.

The process of reviewing applications for purchase has already begun, and "Lukoil's" assets are located in countries in Central Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Mexico.

Previously, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced the introduction of sanctions against the largest oil companies in Russia, including "Lukoil" and "Rosneft," claiming that they "finance the Kremlin's war machine." The United Kingdom also imposed similar restrictions just a week prior, freezing assets and prohibiting new deals with these companies. They were given a one-month deadline to cease their operations.
