Law enforcement officers in St. Petersburg have detained a group of suspects involved in planning the kidnapping of Zenit football player Andrei Mostovoy, as reported by Meduza.

According to information provided by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Irina Volk, suspects in the kidnapping of a businessman have also been detained. The Investigative Committee confirmed that four men are in custody. On October 23, they attempted to abduct a person outside a house on Vyazovaya Street, but their actions were thwarted for reasons beyond their control.

On October 25, a successful operation was carried out to kidnap another man, who was assaulted near a store on Krestovsky Island. They extorted 210,000 rubles from him, as well as 10 million rubles.

According to preliminary information reported by Kommersant, RBC, and Fontanka, this concerns the kidnapping of businessman Sergey Selegenya, the son-in-law of Vyacheslav Makarov, as well as an attempt to capture football player Andrei Mostovoy.

As reported by Mash, during the attempt to capture Mostovoy, several individuals grabbed him by the arms, but he managed to break free with the help of a passerby. According to Shot, he was assisted by hockey player Alexander Grakun.

According to Baza, the mastermind behind the crime promised the kidnappers a reward of 5 million rubles. The detainees are actively cooperating with the investigation and admitted during their first interrogation that they committed the crime for financial gain.
