As a result of the severe snowfalls in Japan, the death toll has risen to 46 people, and the number of injured has reached 558, reports BILD.
According to the agency's information, the bodies of some victims were discovered only after several days, as they were buried under thick layers of snow. Many accidents occurred due to snow sliding off the roofs of buildings, and there were reports of residential houses being destroyed in the affected areas.

The governor of Aomori Prefecture, Soichiro Miyashita, reported that local services are struggling to clear the streets, residential areas, and railway tracks. In early February, the regional authorities appealed for support from the Japan Self-Defense Forces, who are assisting in snow removal, paying special attention to elderly and isolated residents.
It should be noted that over the past three weeks, 46 people have fallen victim to the heavy snowfalls, and the number of injured is approaching 600.
