
A significant eruption of a mud volcano occurred in Colombia, in the San Juan de Uraba area, as reported by REN TV, citing information from the newspaper El Tiempo.
“A state of emergency has been declared in San Juan de Uraba due to the volcanic eruption. This has been confirmed by the municipal council for disaster risk management,” the message posted on social media X states.
The eruption occurred near the municipality's water treatment plant. Local residents reported deep cracks in the ground and damaged asphalt that were found several kilometers from the epicenter.
Authorities have begun the process of emergency evacuation of the local population. So far, there is no information about casualties or injuries resulting from this incident.
According to updated information, the eruption was occurring from a diapir located near the water treatment plant.
