President of the United States Donald Trump announced the beginning of a large-scale military operation against Iran. As Trump noted, this decision was made in response to information from Israel about missile strikes on the capital of Iran, Tehran, reports the Kazinform agency.
An eight-minute video address from Trump appeared on the Truth Social platform. In this address, he emphasized that the operation is being conducted to protect American citizens.
The president stressed that the position of the United States remains unchanged: Iran must not have nuclear weapons. He also noted that Washington's patience regarding negotiations on Tehran's nuclear program has run out, which led to the start of the military operation.
Trump also announced plans to destroy Iran's missile capabilities and eliminate its missile industry. In his address, he called on the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to lay down their arms, promising protection to those who surrender voluntarily. He advised representatives of Iranian security forces to refrain from resistance, warning of serious consequences in case of refusal.
“I appeal to the Iranian police and security forces: lay down your arms immediately, or face inevitable death. To the Iranian people: the time for freedom is near. Stay home, it is unsafe on the streets. When we are done, you will be able to govern your own government. This is your only chance to overthrow the regime,” concluded the American leader.
