Firefighters arrived at the scene of the incident within nine minutes. Given the particular importance of the facility, four units of equipment were mobilized to extinguish the fire, and ambulance teams and medical personnel were also dispatched, the city administration noted.
Present at the scene were the mayor of the city, Aibek Junushaliev, the deputy chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Edil Baisalov, and the Minister of Labor and Social Protection, Kanat Sagynbaev.
Unfortunately, as a result of the incident, two patients in a severe stage of illness died. Additionally, 11 people were transported to medical facilities for observation due to possible carbon monoxide poisoning.
It is worth noting that in July 2025, fire and tactical drills were already conducted at this facility, and all safety measures were properly observed.
According to the city administration, the main building of the Nursing Home was not damaged, and the fire only affected one room in the palliative care ward. Evacuation will be carried out if necessary.
The mayor of Bishkek instructed the relevant services to check all documentation to clarify the circumstances of this incident. The causes of the fire will be determined following an investigation by the competent authorities.
