
On January 19, in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, an employee of the Municipal Enterprise "Bishkek City Transport" was detained for extorting a bribe of 1 million soms. The official was caught red-handed while receiving the money.
According to information provided by the press service of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS), it was revealed that employees of the procurement department of this municipal enterprise regularly demanded 10% of the total amount of tenders. They created artificial obstacles and delayed the payment process for completed work.
After conducting operational measures, the official known by the initials A.K.Sh. was detained and placed in custody at the SCNS pre-trial detention center.
Currently, actions are ongoing to legally assess the actions of these municipal officials, as well as to identify other individuals involved in this case.
