


A lawyer A.K.A. was detained in Bishkek, who previously held the position of a military judge. According to the press service of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, he is suspected of extortion.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the lawyer developed a scheme that allowed him to receive money for facilitating the issuance of favorable decisions in civil cases. From one of the victims, he managed to obtain 25 thousand dollars. He then demanded an additional 7 thousand dollars, threatening that otherwise he would use his connections to overturn the decision in favor of the opponent.
The detention occurred at the moment when the lawyer was receiving part of the sum amounting to 437,500 soms (5 thousand US dollars). A preventive measure of two months' detention in the pre-trial detention center of the State Committee for National Security was chosen for him in court. Currently, the investigation is ongoing to identify other participants in this corruption scheme.
