The mayor of Kyrgyzstan's capital, Aibek Junushaliev, shared information about his current place of residence in a podcast organized by the Kabar agency. He stated that he currently lives in an apartment purchased through a government mortgage program.
According to him, after being appointed mayor, he had to commute daily from Kant for six months.
“I was once late for a meeting, and the management noticed it. I was told that it takes half an hour to get from any point in Bishkek. I explained that I commute from Kant every day,” the mayor said.
After that, he was offered an official apartment in Bishkek; however, he currently resides in mortgaged housing and continues to pay off the loan.
Additionally, Junushaliev noted that he sold his house in Kant and has now permanently moved to Bishkek.
