According to the UN News Service, in 2025 the number of international tourists reached 1.52 billion, which is 60 million more than in 2024, representing a growth of 4 percent.

These figures indicate a recovery to pre-pandemic levels. The demand for travel remains high, driven by active markets and ongoing recovery in Asia and the Pacific region. Additionally, the expansion of air travel and improved visa conditions contributed to the growth of international trips in 2025.

The Secretary-General of the UN World Tourism Organization, Sheikha Al Nuaimi, noted that interest in travel remains strong even amid high inflation in the tourism sector and geopolitical instability.

Some countries that reported their data for the past year showed significant growth in the number of international tourists. In particular, Brazil demonstrated an increase of 37 percent, Egypt by 20 percent, Morocco by 14 percent, and the Seychelles by 13 percent.

Tourism revenues in 2025 reached a record $2.2 trillion.
Forecasts for 2026 suggest a growth in international tourism of 3-4 percent compared to 2025, provided that Asia and the Pacific region continue to recover and global economic conditions remain stable, without being exacerbated by geopolitical conflicts. However, the current tensions in international politics create additional risks for the tourism industry.

At the same time, major international events, such as the Winter Olympics in Italy and the World Cup (in Canada, the USA, and Mexico), will contribute to an increase in international travel.
