In Kyrgyzstan, a new approach to monitoring in domestic violence cases is being implemented — electronic bracelets. This was reported by the Minister of Justice Ayaz Bayetov on his social media account.
Since the beginning of January this year, protective orders have been applied in an updated format, which includes the use of mobile monitoring and electronic tracking. This system involves GPS tracking and mandatory identification using Face ID technology.
In the pilot project taking place in the Oktyabrsky district of Bishkek, the first 15 individuals subject to protective orders have been placed under electronic monitoring. The monitoring periods range from 20 days to 3 months.
"According to the directives of the country's leadership, electronic monitoring will also be applied to the first temporary protective orders next week. In the future, we plan to expand this practice to other districts of the capital and then to the entire territory of Kyrgyzstan," he added.
The implementation of this mechanism is taking place in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the General Prosecutor's Office, the Supreme Court, and the Probation Department of the Ministry of Justice.
The Minister noted that the law on the introduction of electronic monitoring to strengthen protective orders was developed as part of the debureaucratization efforts and was signed by the president in October 2025.
