In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, a plan is being implemented to update the vehicle fleet of the Emergency Medical Assistance Center. Iskender Shayahemtov, the director of the EMS, spoke about the current situation with the ambulances in an interview with the "Kabar" agency.
Currently, the institution has 83 vehicles, but about 30% of them are no longer operational. In daily operations, 42 teams are involved, which creates certain difficulties.
“The Ministry of Health intends to transfer 40 new vehicles to us this year. Deliveries will be carried out in two stages, which will significantly simplify our activities,” noted Shayahemtov.
He also reported that the Bishkek city administration has allocated buildings for the placement of ambulance stations in the villages of Maevka and Jal. However, due to the need for repairs and a lack of vehicles, these points are not yet operational.
Additionally, the construction of a Family Medicine Center and an ambulance station has already been completed in the "Kok-Zhar" microdistrict. It is expected that five teams will operate there. The first 18 new vehicles will be sent to these units upon arrival.
“We will immediately put these stations into operation as soon as the transport becomes available. Thus, the number of ambulance stations in Bishkek will increase to ten,” added the director of the Emergency Medical Assistance Center.
