In the southern part of Bishkek, where new residential complexes are actively being built, the opening of a new branch of the Emergency Medical Care Center is planned. This information was provided in an interview with the Kabar agency by Iskender Shayakhmetov, the director of the EMS Center.
According to him, there is currently only one station operating in this rapidly developing area, which complicates the timely response of teams to calls. The project documentation for the new station is already prepared, and the Minister of Health has noted the significance of this project.
“We will soon conduct a site visit where the construction is planned to discuss all issues. With the opening of the new station, 15 additional ambulance teams will be created, which will allow doctors to reach the call location within 10-15 minutes,” added Shayakhmetov.
The new station will be located on Suerkulov Street, near the 4th maternity hospital. Its opening is expected to significantly improve access to emergency medical care and reduce travel costs.
As the head of the EMS Center clarified, improving road infrastructure will also be of great importance. Zhukeev-Pudovkin Street has already been extended and paved, and the construction of the road from the village of Orto-Sai to April 7 Street is ongoing. This will enable teams to travel via the Southern Highway and avoid traffic jams.
“Currently, ambulances, when leaving the neighborhoods, are forced to move along Chingiz Aitmatov Avenue and Baytik Baatyr Street, where traffic jams often occur. After the opening of the station in ‘Ak-Orgo’, doctors have been able to reach Archa-Beshik, Ala-Too, and Ak-Ordo in 10-15 minutes,” emphasized Iskender Shayakhmetov.
He also noted that road repairs and the absence of traffic jams significantly speed up response times and directly affect the quality of medical care provided.
