In the mountains of the Chui region, an increase in the population of ibex has been recorded.

Ecologist Alexander Sosnovsky reported that ibex, or "teke," are becoming an important part of the high-altitude fauna.

“In winter, these animals gather in large groups, numbering from 100 to 150 individuals. During the winter period, the fur of the ibex is darker compared to summer. Their coat in this season is gray-brown with a dark stripe along the back, the legs are also dark, and the belly has a grayish tint. The summer coat lightens due to the wear of the dark tips of the hairs. Often in winter, herds of ibex can be seen in mountain gorges, especially those leading to the Kara-Balta River,” Sosnovsky shared about his observations.
