In Kyrgyzstan, a localized lawyer's license for regions is being proposed

In Kyrgyzstan, as stated in the Constitution, every person has the right to qualified legal assistance. In this regard, Deputy Minister of Justice Orozbek Sydykov voiced the need to improve access to lawyers at the republic level during a meeting of the committee on constitutional legislation, local self-government, and the regulations of the Jogorku Kenesh.

Sydykov emphasized that most licensed lawyers are concentrated in large cities, while there is a severe shortage of them in several regions, and in some places, there are none at all.

“The absence of lawyers creates numerous problems. In our draft law, we intend to introduce the concept of 'localized lawyer's license.' This will allow lawyers who have successfully passed the exam and received more than 50% correct answers to travel to remote areas to provide legal assistance. This approach has already been applied to notaries: currently, 35 local notaries have received licenses and are now working in areas where there were previously no notarial services,” he noted.
