The village of Yntymak, located in the Iskhak-Polotkhan rural district of the Kadamjai region in the Batken province, has an interesting history and an unusual name.

According to a correspondent from Turmush, this settlement was previously known by the name "Kötal".

Local residents report that the transformation of the name Kötal to Yntymak occurred after 1965.

Initially, the village was named Kök-Tal, which is related to the willows (kök tal) that once grew in this area. Later, representatives of Turkic peoples began to settle here, using these lands as winter pastures. Due to difficulties in pronouncing the word "Kök-Tal" in everyday speech, it was simplified to "Kötal", which also began to be reflected in some official documents," they say.

Nurjamal Yrysbaeva, a history teacher at school No. 43 in the village of Yntymak, noted that there are many interesting places for research in the vicinity.

She added that she regularly organizes excursions for students to expand their knowledge.

"In fact, there is a lot of interesting material to study here. The village is located at the foot of low mountains and borders Uzbekistan (the Ak-Bilal area). Some hills are painted red. Here you can find snail shells that have survived for centuries, as well as unusual stones that resemble the beak of a golden eagle. We collect such finds and use them as exhibits," Yrysbaeva said.
