According to Samat, the glacier was created in the Eski-Kainar area, which is located in the upper reaches of the Bokonbaev village, not far from the rural district of Kun-Chygys. This area is home to 15-20 households, and the total area of land allocated for agriculture is about 60 hectares. “Summer and spring are associated with water shortages for us. Therefore, the villagers Sagin and Altynbek proposed the idea: why not freeze water in winter, when it simply goes to waste, to use it as a reserve later. We discussed this in the village group, but initially, many did not believe it,” he shares.

He also noted that a 150-meter hose was brought in to irrigate the apple orchard. When the process of freezing water began, ice quickly formed into blocks. The residents started raising funds: 15 households contributed 3,000 soms each to buy a hose and continue freezing water. “We strive to ensure that nothing goes to waste — we try to freeze everything we can. Then this ice will gradually melt, providing additional water. This is our first experience — we started in mid-December. If everything goes well, we plan to continue next year,” he added.
