When the predator sensed a threat, it decided to play dead, relying on its confidence.
“Our village is located on the border with Kazakhstan. Here in the fields and forests, foxes and jackals live, which often visit people in search of food as winter approaches,” shared local resident Nikolai.
“The other day I went out into the yard and noticed fox tracks. I decided to follow them. As soon as the fox sensed my presence, it tried to run away. However, I had closed off all possible exits in the fence last autumn. The fox, panicking and darting from side to side, realized there was no way out and pretended to be dead,” Nikolai recounted.
“It was unexpected for me—I didn’t intend to kill it, I just wanted to take a closer look. I opened the gate and stepped aside, and as soon as the fox came to its senses, it instantly dashed for the exit and disappeared,” he added.
Foxes are found everywhere in Kyrgyzstan.
“However, their life in the wild is full of challenges related to finding food and ensuring safety. Foxes possess remarkable skills that allow them to effectively cope with difficulties. These animals are known for their cunning and resourcefulness, as seen in the video. They can deceive crows, dogs, and even humans by pretending to be dead,” shared the opinion of ecologist Alexander Sosnovsky.
