In the Chuy region, there is an increase in the number of foxes that have started to approach residential areas closely.

One local resident shared his recent observation: “In the winter, in the morning, I noticed a light-red fox that jumped out of the reeds as if onto a stage. It stopped, listening, and when it saw me, it slowly hid behind a bush, but did not run away.”

According to this resident of Sokuluk, foxes now often appear near houses, ignoring the barking of dogs, the sounds of cars, and conversations of people.

Ecologist Alexander Sosnovsky explained the reasons for such behavior in animals. “Foxes are generally not picky about their food and can eat any small animal—from frogs to lizards and bird nests. However, in winter, when food becomes scarce, they begin to feel hunger, which drives them to search for food, waste, and carrion closer to human dwellings, losing their usual caution,” noted the specialist.
