Before selling the fish, they keep it alive in specially made net pens-pools.

Nikolai Radchenko continues: “I place the caught fish in the pool so it can recover from injuries sustained during the catching or transportation process. I carry out aeration, ensuring the necessary level of oxygen in the water. In such conditions, the fish can live for up to two weeks. If the pool is large, it will need to be fed. One acquaintance does just that, and his carp and snakeheads live a long time. Creating even a small net pen will require investments, depending on its size, but it is worth it. If the fishing trip is unsuccessful, there is always fresh fish for sale. The pen can contain various species, and live fish is always in high demand and costs more than frozen,” shares Nikolai from his experience.

Despite the positive experience, only a few fishermen in the Jayyl district use such aquaculture methods. Building a specialized pool requires significant investment and engineering approach, so most fish farmers stick to the usual scheme: catch the fish and send it directly to the market.
