The general plan is a key strategic document that defines the development of the capital for the next 25 years. It covers the most important aspects related to infrastructure, population provision, and improving the quality of life. This was reported in a live broadcast by the head of the State Enterprise "Bishkekglavarkhitektura," Mederbek Kydyrmaev, on the agency "Kabar."
Kydyrmaev noted that the previous general plan, adopted in 2006, will expire in December 2025. Currently, the city of Bishkek is the main customer of the new general plan, and at the direction of the mayor's office, work is actively underway to update it.
The development of the new document is being carried out by a research institute from St. Petersburg. As a result of the administrative-territorial reforms conducted in 2024-2025, the area of Bishkek has tripled, including new villages and residential areas into its composition.
According to Kydyrmaev, an extensive number of analytical studies have been conducted in the process of working on the general plan. Special websites were launched, surveys among citizens were conducted, and official requests were sent to the ministry. Based on the collected information, key problems requiring solutions were identified, and the main directions for the future development of the capital were formulated.
The main tasks of the new general plan are to combat traffic congestion, improve the environmental situation, eliminate the shortage of social facilities, and develop transport infrastructure. Thus, the general plan is aimed at creating conditions for the effective resolution of the existing problems of the city.
