In the Issyk-Kul region, in the village of Ananyevo, wild ducks found shelter from bad weather among domestic ones.

A hunter and naturalist, Yuri Gorbenko, passing through the village, noticed that wild mallards were comfortably settled next to domestic ducks by the river flowing through the settlement.

“The birds were calmly feeding and resting, but as soon as the wild ducks sensed danger, they instantly took off and disappeared. Mallards can be found in Kyrgyzstan year-round, and in winter they gather in significant numbers at Issyk-Kul. However, in winter bad weather conditions, wild ducks prefer to seek refuge in small non-freezing rivers rather than on the shores of the lake,” he noted.
