In 2025, there were 137,980 births registered in Kyrgyzstan, which is 2,000 fewer compared to 2024. This was reported by Nurgul Ibraeva, head of the Ministry of Health department, at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh.
She noted that there is a stable trend of declining birth rates in the country. While last year the number of births was around 150,000, this figure has now decreased by 20,000 to 30,000.
According to Ibraeva, this situation is due to several factors. In particular, young people increasingly prefer to achieve financial stability and determine their life circumstances before making decisions about having children.
Interestingly, in the southern regions of the country, the birth rate has remained relatively stable, while in the northern areas there is a more noticeable decline in the number of births.
