The Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic, Erlis Akunbekov, held a meeting on March 17, 2026, dedicated to preparations for the spring fieldwork. This information was published by the ministry's press service.
Regional department heads responsible for plant protection and quarantine participated in the event. The main task of the meeting was to ensure the quality and timely conduct of fieldwork across the country, as well as to provide farmers with the necessary resources and plant protection.
During the meeting, Minister Akunbekov outlined several key assignments:
1. Full provision of farmers with mineral fertilizers, utilizing all available resources.
2. Increased agronomic support from plant protection and chemical treatment services.
3. The quarantine department was tasked with strictly controlling the import of seedlings from abroad, thoroughly checking each product and adhering to phytosanitary standards.
4. Conducting raids against unscrupulous sellers, especially those importing potatoes from China and selling them as local products.
Erlis Akunbekov emphasized that transparency and order in agriculture are crucial conditions for the country's food security. He also noted that supporting farmers is a priority of state policy.
As a result of the meeting, specific tasks were assigned to the relevant institutions for the prompt execution of the assignments. The ministry will closely monitor the progress of the spring fieldwork.
