This year in Naryn, a competition called "Best Sumolok" will be held in honor of the Nowruz holiday. This event is organized by the public association "Kyrgyz Birimdik".
All districts of the Naryn region will be represented at the competition, where 40 cauldrons will be set up simultaneously for the preparation of the traditional dish. According to Dana Abdybekova, the chairwoman of the public association "Kyrgyz Birimdik", the goal of the competition is to express good wishes for development and prosperity for the residents of the region who live in challenging climatic conditions.
Participants will be able to win a prize of 100,000 soms for first place, 50,000 soms for second place, and 30,000 soms for third place. Additionally, all teams participating in the competition will receive consolation prizes ranging from 10,000 to 15,000 soms for their efforts.
The preparation of sumolok will begin on March 20 in the "Tian-Shan" park in Naryn. The traditional process will be accompanied by a cultural program and other festive activities, making this event even more memorable.
