Veteran of the Great Patriotic War Mamassali Jumaev passed away at the age of 101

In the Jalal-Abad region, in the Suzak district, 100-year-old veteran and the last participant of the Great Patriotic War, Mamasali Jumaev, has passed away. The news of the veteran's death was reported by the head of the district labor, social protection, and migration department, Omurbek Asylbek uulu.

Farewell to Mamasali Jumaev will take place tomorrow, March 19, in his native village of Safarovka, located in the rural district of Bagysh, where he spent the last years of his life.

Mamasali Jumaev was born on September 2, 1926, in the village of Uch-Malay, in a simple peasant family. His youth was spent during the difficult wartime.

In January 1944, he was drafted to the front.

He participated in battles near Voronezh and Volgograd (Stalingrad), fought in Ukraine, and also served in Vladivostok and Khabarovsk.

After the end of the war in Europe, he was sent to the Far East, where he took part in the war with Japan, returning home with the long-awaited victory.

The veteran is survived by 9 children, 35 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

In his last interview with the publication Turmush in 2025, Mamasali Jumaev recalled the hardships of front-line life with tears in his eyes: “At the front, we cried just from smelling a piece of bread, and we shared every crumb equally with our comrades.”
