In the Kyrgyz Republic, the number of prisoners and sentences to imprisonment has decreased

In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, the results of the JUST4ALL project ("Justice for All") are being summarized, which is implemented through the cooperation of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights.

The goal of the project is to strengthen probation services and optimize information management in criminal justice.

During the meeting, the achievements of the probation service since its establishment were presented, including the development of alternatives to imprisonment, as well as the rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders.

These actions comply with international standards and aim to enhance transparency, accuracy, and accountability in the criminal justice system.

It was also noted that the Ministry of Justice and the General Prosecutor's Office have successfully developed and implemented modern information systems that cover all key stages of the criminal process—from registration to the execution of court decisions.

Thanks to these measures, the number of sentences to imprisonment in Kyrgyzstan has decreased by 24%, and the number of prisoners in jails has reduced by 29%.

Within the framework of the project, unified registers of crimes and offenses have also been created.

At the conclusion of the event, a new phase of the project was signed, which provides for further development of judicial justice.
