The opening ceremony of the Kyrgyzstan Judo Championship took place on January 24 in the city of Osh. This was reported by representatives of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The director of this agency, Kazybek Moldazhiyev, began the official part of the event, emphasizing the importance of such tournaments for the formation of the national team and the promotion of judo in the country.
Among the attendees at the opening were the authorized representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Osh region, Amankan Kenjebayev, the vice-mayor of Osh, Nurlan Zakirov, and the president of the National Judo Federation of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kuanychbek Kongantiev, as well as athletes, coaches, and numerous fans.
The competition program includes women's participation in weight categories up to 48, 52, 57, 63, 70, 78, and over 78 kg, while men will compete in categories up to 60, 66, 73, 81, 90, 100 kg, and over 100 kg.
“The goal of the tournament is to select athletes for the judo national team, strengthen friendship among youth, attract young people to sports, and improve the skill level of the wrestlers,” the agency's message notes.
