In his first match at the competition, he defeated Ibrahim Ibrahimov, the reigning European champion from Russia, who competed in the under 65 kg weight category.
After the bout, Ibrahimov shared his impressions in an interview with Vladislav Abdusalamov.
“Basically, the score of 3:0 speaks for itself. Everything went quite well. We trained a lot together, and I regard him as a fairly serious opponent with experience. But in the very end, I made a mistake — I tried to push him out of the mat and ended up losing two points. Nevertheless, I have other goals — the World Championship and the Russian Championship. All these tournaments help me learn from my mistakes,” noted Ibrahimov.
