Peregrine Falcon
Status: Category VII, Least Concern, LC. One of 10 species of the genus in the fauna of Kyrgyzstan, subspecies F. p. peregrinus Tunstall, 1771 and F. p. calidus Latham, 1790 [35, 36].
Distribution general and in the country. Cosmopolitan, found all over the globe [63]. In Kyrgyzstan, not found during nesting [38], occurs during migration throughout the territory, but is rare everywhere; some individuals stay for the winter.
Habitat. Very diverse, including forest-steppes and mountains [23].
Population. The exact population in the republic is not established.
Life style (life cycles). Migratory bird. Occupies other birds' nests in trees and cliffs. The clutch consists of 3-4 eggs.
Incubation lasts 29-35 days [23]. Feeds mainly on medium and small-sized birds, as well as small rodents.
Limiting factors. Capture by poachers during migration. Disturbance, direct destruction. Deterioration of the food base.
Breeding (keeping in captivity). No information available.
Existing conservation measures. As a species threatened with extinction, it was included in the Red Book of the USSR [39]. Included in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan. Listed in Appendix 2 of the “Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora” [3]. Protected in the reserves of the republic.
Recommended conservation measures. Raising public awareness about the protection of birds of prey. Organizing a nursery for breeding in captivity.

Status: Category VII, Least Concern, LC. Migrates and winters in Kyrgyzstan on rare occasions. No exact data on numbers, although it occurs throughout the country. Usually lays 3-4 eggs, incubates for 29-35 days. Feeds on small and medium-sized birds, small rodents. Capture by smugglers during migration is a major threat. Included in the Kyrgyz Red Book of 1985. It is recommended to increase public awareness of the bird, create a nursery to breed Peregrine Falcon and reintroduce it.
