KOICA to allocate $10 million for clean air project in Kyrgyzstan

On February 2, a meeting took place at the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic between Minister Meder Mashiev and representatives of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

During the discussion, the topic of implementing a project aimed at improving air quality in Kyrgyzstan was raised. This project is planned for implementation in 2026-2028 in the city of Bishkek and the Chui region.

The project includes receiving a grant from the government of South Korea of up to $10 million. The main objectives of the project are to reduce emissions of pollutants, develop a comprehensive air quality management plan, and implement environmentally friendly heating systems in public educational institutions.
