Kyrgyzstan and the World Bank discussed the implementation of a project to improve air quality




During the meeting held on February 4 at the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of Kyrgyzstan, participants discussed important issues of strategic partnership. Samih Nagib Wahba, the regional director of the World Bank for sustainable development in Europe and Central Asia, participated in this event.

According to the ministry, the main topics of discussion were ways to expand cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the World Bank in the field of sustainable development.

Among the key issues raised, emphasis was placed on improving air quality, enhancing resilience to climate change, and implementing the "Improvement of Air Quality in Kyrgyzstan" project, which is funded by the World Bank. Opportunities for more active promotion of the Mountain Agenda were also considered.

Minister Meder Mashiev emphasized the importance of the World Bank's support in implementing national programs aimed at adapting to climate change, reducing environmental risks, and introducing modern solutions in the field of ecology. He also noted that the ministry is actively working on preparing a draft law on climate activities, which will create legal and economic mechanisms for transitioning to sustainable and low-carbon development in the country.

At the end of the meeting, Samih Nagib Wahba thanked the participants for their warm welcome and constructive approach to discussing future directions of cooperation.
