The minimum charter capital of banks in Kyrgyzstan will be raised to 3 billion soms.

In accordance with the decision of the Board of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic, the minimum sizes of authorized and regulatory capital for commercial banks have been established. This decision is recorded in the resolution of the NBKR under number 2025-П-17/71-2-(NPA), dated December 29, 2025.

According to the new resolution, for new commercial banks, including branches of foreign credit organizations, the minimum authorized capital is set at no less than 3 billion soms.

Existing banks will transition to the new capital level in stages:

For banks that are systemically important, a separate threshold has been established — a minimum authorized capital of no less than 8 billion soms, which will come into effect on July 1, 2027.

The resolution will take effect on January 1, 2026.
