In recent years, Kyrgyzstan has significantly reduced its dependence on food imports, which is associated with a steady increase in the production of key food products. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, by 2025, the republic will be self-sufficient in six out of nine key types of food, and the level of self-sufficiency for certain items has increased.
Among the products for which complete or surplus self-sufficiency has been achieved, the following can be highlighted:
- vegetables and melons;
- potatoes;
- milk;
- meat;
- sugar;
- eggs.

- vegetable oil;
- fruits and berries.
- milk — from 112% in 2020 to 127.3% in 2025;
- meat — from 63.6% to 85.7%;
- sugar — from 15% to 82.1%;
- eggs — from 56.4% to 79.8%;
- vegetable oil — from 34% to 51.7%;
- fruits and berries — from 15% to 51.4%.
