Residents of the Naryn region have initiated the creation of a plant for leather processing. This was reported at a meeting of the Agricultural Policy Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh by deputy Zhyldyz Taalaibek kyzy. She noted that a significant portion of the local population is engaged in livestock farming, and farmers face the problem of disposing of hides. In most cases, they choose between throwing them away or burning them.
Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Industry Bakyt Torobaev added that when designing the new plant, it is necessary to consider the presence of purification systems to prevent negative impacts on the ecology and health of residents. This is due to the fact that chemical substances are used in the processing process.
“We hope that animal hides from the Naryn, Issyk-Kul, and Chui regions will be processed at the plant that will be built in the Issyk-Ata district. However, there is also a need to create another plant in the south of the country. Often, hides are of low quality due to improper removal or damage during slaughter, so it is important to train farmers in the necessary skills,” the minister concluded.
