On November 24, 2025, the Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Bakyt Torobaev, visited the Potato Development Center "Tyup," located in the Issyk-Kul region. During his visit, he familiarized himself with the center's operations and the process of storing seed potatoes, as reported by the ministry's press service.
The center focuses on the production of seed potatoes and providing farmers with quality planting material using modern technologies. It has established infrastructure for long-term storage of seed potatoes at a temperature of 2–3 degrees, ensuring the preservation of product quality.
The minister also reviewed the technical equipment of the center, which is involved in the production of seed material.
Representatives of the center appealed to Torobaev for support in creating a full-fledged seed farm. They shared plans for developing new potato varieties, constructing a laboratory, and implementing in vitro technology to obtain high-quality seed plants. The main goal is to provide Kyrgyz farmers with innovative and productive seed material.
Bakyt Torobaev emphasized the importance of these initiatives as a significant step in the development of seed production in the country, which will reduce dependence on imported seed material and ensure sustainable growth in agricultural production.
Local production of quality seeds will contribute to increasing potato yields, reducing farmers' costs, and improving the quality of agricultural products in the domestic market. ```
