The Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Erlis Akunbekov, during a working trip to the Osh region, visited the Dangi site in the rural district of Dostuk in the Aravan district. The delegation also included the authorized representative of the president in the Osh region Amanakan Kenjebayev and the akim of the Aravan district state administration Daniyar Erkimbaev. They familiarized themselves with the location where a reservoir is planned to be built.
According to the ministry, discussions about this project have been ongoing for many years, but its implementation has not yet begun. The planned reservoir could significantly improve the irrigation situation in the region and open new prospects for agricultural development.
Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh Aigul Akhmedova emphasized that the successful implementation of this project would provide an additional 5-6 thousand hectares of land and guarantee farmers stable water supply for irrigation. This would also create conditions for the construction of small hydroelectric power stations and the development of fish farming.
Akunbekov, in turn, instructed the relevant state agencies to actively consider the project and expedite organizational work. He noted that the construction of the reservoir is crucial for enhancing the agricultural potential of the region and improving the living standards of local residents.
In this regard, the relevant departments have been instructed to complete the preparatory stages as soon as possible and begin construction.
